Halloween is fun!

Some more updates. Halloween is a great time. We tried eating donuts off string at a church activity. It was hilarious!!
Oh yeah! I got my hair cut a few weeks ago. I was going to wait until I was done student teaching as a celebration . . . but I decided to celebrate making it half-way through instead. :) Here is a lamo before picture, taken after having my hair in a pony tail. I just wanted to show how long it was.

I cut over 8 inches off! I was waiting because I wanted to get 10 inches for Locks of Love, but then I found out that you can't have bleached hair. I have old highlights from a year ago, so I gave up. Then when I went to get it cut, they told me this other place accepts 8 inches and bleached hair, so they cut it off in a couple of ponytails for me and printed off the information for me to send it in. Then I was reading the requirements they printed off for me as I was walking home and found out that the other place doesn't accept highlighted hair either. So now I just have some ponytails for a scrapbook I guess. :)

My costume for Halloween was kind of boring. I just needed something simple that I could wear to school. My students kept asking if I was a mouse or a cat. I was catwoman of course! I wore a trench coat and looked all spy-like and stuff. Not good enough I suppose. Oh, and if you're wondering, that is my tail. :)

I am so scary!! Really! I am! Look at those claws!

But, there it is, my new hair cut. Today I even managed to get it into a small half pony-tail while I was cleaning.

Update of our lives.

The most exciting thing to happen in my life so far is that Leif and Melissa had their baby girl! See their blog for more. It is beautiful. I love Melissa's perspective. Besides that, here are some things that have been happening.
DISCLAIMER: all these pictures were taken with my phone, so they aren't the best. But, I always have it with me, so when I remember to take pictures. This is what you get. :)

I dyed Kelly's hair. It didn't last. But it was fun for a day. She lets me play sometimes. :) love her.

We went home for Conference weekend. I played with the family, but Michael had to go to National Guard that weekend. Bummer for him, but I love what he does.

Anellisa washed her dog (yes, that's a dog! When he isn't wet he is pretty cute.

Reid helped Grandma, me, Leona, and their friends clean out the play house so they could play. After Jed went through some of his things, he recruited Reid to "wash his rock collection". Reid loved doing it and didn't want any help.
Jed & Leona and family, and Anellisa came up to visit me and Michael for fall break (for Jed and Michael) and UEA weekend (for me). I am so glad they were willing to come ALL the WAY up HERE!!! We had a really fun weekend with them. Ane came up first and hung out with me. She is such a great sister. She helped me and Michael deliver things to the ward. I road the bike, and pulled Ane on the rollerblades. (Napolean Dynamite flashback).

Here she is on Michael's bike.

We also got to be the "pilot" on an airplane. Mike Maljerick happened to be in Logan on a business trip, so we got to sit in the cockpit. We did calm pilot poses, then. . . plane crashing poses. We're dorks, but it was a blast.
Anellisa as the pilot.

And me as the pilot. Not great pictures, but what do you expect in a crashing situation!!!

We went fishing. With Jed along it was impossible to avoid.

We went and fed the ducks at first dam. Anything Reid does, William is sure to follow!

We also went on a hike up to the wind caves. It was a much longer/harder hike than Michael and I remembered, but it was still very beautiful. It was more of a workout for those of us who were carrying Reid and William. They only walked for part of the way. Here are some pictures of the hike.

as you can see, Reid was a little tired on the hike down.

School! Why does it take over my LIFE!!

So, I haven't posted for a while. . . :) Michael and I have been in school for a few weeks now and it feels like it has been forever for me. I am doing my student teaching right now. I have been teaching for three weeks and have mixed feelings. I teach 8th and 9th graders. So far, I like the 8th graders better. I am learning a lot about myself throughout this, but it definitely has taken over my life. Any of you who know me, know that I get really stressed. Well, now I really know what stress is. :) But, I keep telling myself it is over before Thanksgiving, and then I graduate!!!! I think that once I get through this week things will go better. The students (and I) are a little sick of the Unit we are in. Again, learning A LOT.
Well, these are some pictures from when we went down and spent a day with Jed and Leona. The pictures were taken by my phone, so not the best, but really not that bad!!!

This cute pic was taken by Reid, I showed him which button to push and he went to town.

It looked like he was getting run over, kind of. Then he laughed and ruined it. . .scratch that. . . he just made it cuter!

Radicle River Rafting

This last week Michael and I were lucky enough to go river rafting with our friends. Jeff, Amanda, Amanda's dad (Bob), Danny, Michael, and I all went. It was an awesome trip. We were able to camp and ran the Snake river 4 times before we were all tired out. The first time down was VERY cold (it was about 9 in the morning). Michael and I had decided we would be fine without wet suits, and we paid for it. :) I sat in the front with Amanda and got the brunt of the splashes. So, I decided I would be the driver the second time to give myself a chance to warm up. (This person drives the van down to the pick-up while everyone else rides the river). The third run was done in record time. With Michael as the captain (sits in the back and tells which side to row, where to aim, etc.) we hit all the waves just right. We passed 5 other boats and tired ourselves out. For the last run Amanda drove the van, so I used her wet-suit. It made quite a difference as I didn't shiver quite as much. On the area we were running there is a section called "Lunch Counter" that has some huge waves! I mean huge! I don't know exactly how high they are because from the raft they seem to be at least 20 feet high (which I am sure they aren't in actuality). On the last run we happen to hit lunch counter as it was in a swell. As we hit the third wave, a lateral wave from the rocks turned us sideways and we flipped!!!! Yes we flipped the raft. Below are some pictures from a professional who was on the bank at the time. Heading into the waves:

Starting to flip:
Flipping!!!:

Michael comes up for air and gets a lung-full of water, Danny grabs the boat:

This is the scariest picture for me. Seeing Michael under water like that really hit a nerve for me. The rest of us came up right next to the boat and were able to grab on easily before going into the whirlpools that followed. Michael was thrown far from the raft and barely was able to grab Danny (luckily Danny has long legs). This picture made me realize how scary this could have been. This is Danny trying to hold the top of the raft, and Michael underwater :(This is the last picture of us the photographer took. That's me (far right. . . my sunglasses survived it all while Michael's didn't), Jeff Winterton (middle), and Jeff's Father-in-law:

Each time we had gone through before, there were strong eddys that would bring us to a stop. When we got flipped, that was on all of our minds. If these eddys and whirlpools could bring a fast-moving raft full of people to a stop, then what would it do to one lone person. Thankfully, we were all fine. When we were all safely back in the boat (I was first back in . .. oh yeah!), Michael asked, "Did anyone feel an eddy?" None of us had. Then Jeff's father-in-law (Bob) said, "You know, we forgot to say our prayer this morning, so I said one for us before we went down." I know we were protected. Jeff was the only one who dropped his oar, and it got sucked into an eddy and came down behind us. That is why I know we were protected. I am so very grateful for a Heavenly Father who watches out for each of his children. I am especially grateful that he brought Michael safely back to me. I love Him and my husband and don't like to think of what I would do without either. Anyway, it was a blast and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The Black Hole that is "TWILIGHT"

I have to admit that I too have been "sucked in" to the Twilight series. I started reading the first book after a weekend at Jed and Leona's. Leona, her friends, and Celina (fillmore--who I work with) all talked about it to the point that I had to read them. I was lucky the first one was at the Library. When I was done with it, the second one was all checked out. I am not super impatient, but we happened to go to Borders to use a coupon and so we bought it. When I was done with that one I played the patient card and put my name on the waiting list for the third one. Luckily I only had to wait a few days. I really wish I hadn't bought New Moon because it was my least favorite out of all of them.

I heard that they were making a movie of Twilight that would come out in December so I decided to check it out. I am already skeptical. As I watched the short clip it showed I kept thinking, "That's not how it happened." I didn't get a good look at whoever playes Edward, but how can you find an actor that is as perfect as Edward is supposed to be? I guess we will all just have to go see it when it comes out.

If you are curious, you can click here to go to the movie website.

My Nephews

I Fixed it! I said I was new at this. Now they both show Gavin at the first, but the second one really is the video of Gavin. :)

This is kind of long, but worth watching. My camera does weird things so sorry for the color flashes. I don't know why it shows Gavin at the first, I am still trying to figure out all this blog stuff (thus the new background).

This was a Memorial Day at Jed and Leona's. I love this one because it is funny to see Reid dancing in the background. Michael (what a nerd :) makes some faces in the background. I have cute nephews. :) They are all very entertaining and I wish I could be around them more often (this includes Gavin). I can't wait for this niece. Yay! Michael's side has some nieces, but they were all born before we were married, so Leif and Melissa's feels like a first.

This is while we were in Texas visiting Leif and Melissa and Gavin. To explain: Gavin was singing into my blow dryer and it was hilarious! I am posting this video because the dancing was a nice plus. Don't mind my crazy hair, I had been blow drying it. :) enjoy!

Update-ish

Thought I would write a little to let you know what's going on. I am still not great at this blogging thing. . . someday, maybe I'll have more to blog about. Michael and I recently got new callings that keep us pretty busy, and weekends full. I am in the primary presidency, and Michael is in the Elder's Quorum presidency. We are both working for the summer in preparation for the last semester of our Bachelor's degrees. We went to dinner this evening at a WONDERFUL Thai restaurant to celebrate that Michael has been accepted into his graduate program here at Utah State. So, we will be here in Logan for another two years-ish. Well, that's the quick update. And since posts are so much better when they include pictures, I have included a Durkey or Tuck (ya know - - Turkey/duck) that I saw in Texas. Oh, and Michael and I posing as best we can. :)

Oh yeah! Those fingers fly!

78 words

I have a slight confession to make. I enjoy typing. Sometimes when I am bored (like while watching my husband play x-box) I will go on the internet and do typing tests. I got this one from my sister.

Blogging For Myself

So, now that I am done with my class, I can post my own things. The problem is that I am new to this whole thing and don't really know what to post or where to find sweet templates, playlists, and other sweetness. I guess you'll just have to "stay tuned" to see what I come up with (since I don't have any cute kids to show pictures of).
